Great timing with the nation's eye on guns and need for gun control. Who says we're not creatures of habitual marketing?

We need drug enforcement in St. Pete far more than we do gun control.

"St. Petersburg Police concluded a four-month investigation into alleged drug dealers..." The first sentence of the article states this investigation started 4 months ago. And would it surprise you that drugs and guns are related? These are not law abiding, responsible citizens if what they are alleging is true.

How is it that this story does not include any arrests in the areas ''south'' of where most of these busts took place? Such as in Gulfport and north from there to Central? Just the drugs busts that could have been made up and down along or near 15th Ave S could have produced more arrests than this article mentioned. Yes, this is good police work...but they need to step it up. They are not even getting started yet, compared to how many busts they ''should'' be doing. Come on St Petersburg police...let's clean up this town...or chase the crime area back into a smaller area. Have the police labled the area south of Central and west of I-275 as the no-fly zone and approved the hood to include it from now on? It is not there yet, far from it...but it is getting that way. If they let the Child's Park area go...then it is as serious of a blight threat that the area faces. This aea is still worth saving. The Gulfport area, the ''Southside St Petersburg'' area, and the St Pete's Beach area depend on this area being better protected from crime. It is hard to describe how much this area is at a threshold. If the police don't ''get hot'' on it soon...then it is at risk of never being stable ever again. This area is full of many fine families begging for the police to help it. I see many things going on around here that are very hard to beleive the police allow it.

Well...I'd like to add that I am somewhat new to the area and the address system...and I see that my comments incorrectly says that the southern areas did not have very many of the arrests. After looking closer at the addresses, I see they they actually cover a broad area including some of the areas I complained about. My apologies to the police, but obviously a lot of what I said remains true. Good luck officers....I know your job is dangerous..and may God protect you in your duites. Your job is a job few of us would like to do.

How come the other 9 of the 17 arrests are not listed? I imagine few people don;t know what I am talking about when I mention the activity along 15th Ave S....especially the obviously problem that has been going on for ''years'' near the conveniance store (Shadyside) close to 40th St S. There are ''several'' other separate areas along 15th Ave S (West of I-275) or within 1 block of it, that are ''thick'' with activity. How is there ''any'' excuse for the Police letting this activity continue? Ther are many families in this area trying their hearts out to keep it liveable and a place anyone would want to live...but we are failing. It's discouraging.

It's just awful to see a young man you have seen grow up, and witness him getting overcome by the drug world. As someone who is older, and raised during the hippie years, etc...I have seen (of course...lol) this happen over and over to family after family over the years. No matter ''what family'' it happens to or how many times you see it happen...it is about the most unpleasant thing to witness. I would not wish that sight upon my worst enemies. Such a shame and waste of so many youngsters. Anyone who is lucky enough to have escaped that life is fortunate.

this is a good thing. Now how about enforcing cross walks and one way streets? I see so many over 100 a day including child endangerment and drivers under the influnence as well as public intox. This is a real problem! I guess we will all wait untill more people are killed.

...or...how about we only allow drug users to jaywalk....lol. I don't so much mind ''all'' the jaywalkers...afterall it is rahter silly to ''always'' go to a corner to cross. Right? What I hate is these jaywalkers who step right out into traffic and often even ''direct'' traffic as they cross the street as they mix right in with the cars. It is so insane to see people do this. I am pretty sure Pinellas country in general is practically the ''leader'' in pedestrian and bicycle deaths in the entire country. Think about that. What a dreadful fact that is. As someone who is fairly new to the area, I can now see why. One of my biggest adjustments when moving here was getting used to driving here. Between the speed bumps, the pedestrians, the bicyclist, the 50cc Scooters that drive like people on bicycles, etc...it is very tricky driving here without killing someone.

Most of the drug houses don't need cameras to spot them...they are easy to spot with your bare eyes even if it is your first day in this area. I am surprised the cops here are not all with dark glasses, seeing-eye dogs, and a blind mans cane. Sure...i understand it sometimes takes then a while to study a house before they bust it...but a month or so ought to be the limit on that garbage...but what excuse do they have for letting this drug hives operate on and on , month after month? Either go after the landlords...or impound properties...etc...it really is not ''this hard'' to cleanup this problem ...or at the very least...chase the activity out of certain neighbors hoods. It seems like the law enforcement here have simply conceded certain neighborhoods to the druggies and just let them be. I see many neighborhoods that I find it hard to believe that the cops simply seem to have given up on them. There are many, many ''diverse'' neighbor hoods that are fine to live in...until the drug activity becomes ''obvious''. Then they become not necessarily ''the hood'' but more of a suburban form of one. One is just as bad as the other when you live in them.

HOW THEY CAN PUT A MAN HUNT AND OPERATE A STING FOR DRUGS, BUT CANT FIND A KILLER WITHIN A WEEK WHO HAS PLOTTED TO KILL 2 PEOPLE AND DID IT WITHIN 2 WEEKS AND STILL IS AT LARGE BUT THEY GOT TIME TO MAKE SURE THEY RIDE THERE DUMB ASS UP AND DOWN THE STREET TRYING TO SNIFF OUT CRIME BUT CANT FIND SOMEONE WHO HAS CREATED SO MUCH EVIL WITHIN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE ACADEMY? WHAT THE HELL DO THEY STAND FOR AND IS THERE ONLY QUALITY IS CRACKING DOWN ON DRUGS BUT CANT PROVIDE SAFETY TO THE STREETS FROM VIOLENCE? I'M STARTING TO THINK THAT THE DRUG MONEY AND DRUGS ARE THE ONLY THING THAT THEY ARE CONCERNED ABOUT BECAUSE IT PRODUCE REVENUE FOR THEM. THE SYSTEM IS A FRAUD THAT'S WHY THE ONLY REAL CONCERNED MONEY. PIGS HATED WHEN SOMEONE IS LIVING BETTER THEN THEM AND THEY FEEL LIKE MAJORITY WHO ARE DEALING ARE BLACK THERE TO PROSPEROUS LIVING BEYOND WHAT WE DESIGNED FOR THEM. SO ARREST THEY FEEL BREAKS THEM DOWN INTO NOTHING. JUST STOP PUSHING THE MAN TO THE EDGE MAKING DRUGS HIS ONLY OPPORTUNITY TO SUPPORT HIMSELF. ITS THE SYSTEM FAULT THAT DRUGS IS A BUSINESS. IF MAN HAD EQUAL OPPORTUNITY THERE WOULD BE NO ROOM FOR ERROR.

Lisa is part of the 47%. The group that contains not only people who ''know'' they have reverse discrimination, but also the larger percentage of the 47% group who have it and don't even know it. The 47% is not so easily defined as they think they are...but it is real. If anything, Romney will be remembered for pointing out this group. It sure beats being known for a stain on a blue suede dress.

Oh Todd...quit with the ''have a nice day '' stuff. Lisa has crossed that line where politeness or trying to lighten things up is a plain silly idea. I think we are way beyond that now. ''Hostile'' is an understatement in describing her. ''Drama'' is what she is all about. I originally thought it was ''you'' that took this to a very low spot..lower that you should have. I apologize. Now I am not so sure you did at all. I made an attempt to bring things down a notch with Lisa...but now I think your ''turd'' comments were not so mean after all. Lisa is a prime example of why we have problems getting along in this country. She brings to light the fact that ..yes...there is a racist problem in this country...but it is not as she sees it. It makes sane people ask just exactly who the racists are now? She makes it easy to answer that question. She is not just part of it...but very much the cause of why racism won't go away at a time when it is trying very hard to do so. Anyone else notice how racism has taken a reverse direction since Obama has been in office? It came at a time many of us of all races may have been thinking that it seemed like things were getting better. Not any more. After hearing her repeatedly mentioned God and the ''F'' word in rampant abandon, it is easy to see she is simply the very worst part of the 47%. Liberals often have the mentality that rules are for others. Few shame themselves like Lisa has here. Pretty disgusting display she has put on.

Lisa. I just saw on the news where they are now offering a $50,000 reward for the murderer you mentioned above. That seems like a significant amount and larger than what is usually heard of...especailly so soon. This ought to give you a littel more faith in ths system you seem to detest so much.
Does it?
Just keep in mind...this guy could have probably already been caught if people who knew him were probably not helping him remain hidden. That said, he is probably not good enough of a friend to keep quiet about if $50,000 is being offered, though.

This is all very funny... all this is do to poor economy poor education and people falling through the cracks. Do you know the chance of a person with a felony conviction has a 30% chance higher of going back to prison more then once after the first time. Why because of economy. Felony conviction rate's for gainful employment is ridiculous. If you don't know some that can get you in to a good job your looking at a minimum wage job and you can support a family on minimum wage. So they turn to doing illegal activity to support there family. Then in turn whined right back in the system multiple time's. The system needs to create a better felony support system for non-violent offences so that when they return home from prison or lengthy jail time they can go out and find that gainful employment

The economy certainly doesn't help but I think most of these people were still breaking the law and taking the easy way out to make money long before the economy tanked. Some folks just don't want to work and prefer to sell dope. It is their own fault that they have to go that route verses being stuck with a low paying job. It's all about choices you make growing up. I think it starts at the home myself. I was unemployed for quite some time and I never once considered victimizing others to get by.

Lisa, I didn't attack you but only replied to you calling me an ass. I think your heart is in the right place but we all have different ways of showing and expressing things. I will admit I have a really low tolerance as far as drugs and people who poison our streets with them. I don't enjoy lashing back but won't tolerate it all the same. I appreciate that you have come back to planet earth and are being a bit more civilized. :)

reading back at my remarks yes i did cross the line a few times, because regardless of ur thoughts and opinions i still have to account for my actions. the blog was stupid should have never decided to comment period. sometimes ur opinion is not needed. the real concren of my comment was never addressed, just gave an opportunity for negative energy to surface. the only thing that i owe is an apology because i did make myself seem more offended by the comments, even though i can not relate to majority of the things that you mentioned. yes i am very fiesty. hey i'm a woman whose very outspoken. but im not racist nor do i have hatred in my heart for anyone. one thing that i will take from this situation is to lose my harsh approach when im addressing someone negative. i dont have to battle anyone there is no need for a guard or defense, i'm at ease with life. second profanity is not needed so much period. i am a lady should remain no matter how big of an a** im dealing with not worth losing your cool.
