1. Record Store Day
Get up early this Saturday to make sure you can get your hands on limited edition releases for the annual Record Store Day. Participating stores include Daddy Kool Records and Banana Music. Daddy Kool, located at 666 Central Ave., opens at 8 a.m. and has live music throughout the day. Banana Music, 2887 22nd Ave. N. 2. Earth Day
This Saturday, April 21, from 8 - 11 a.m., the Council of Neighborhood Associations (CONA) of St. Petersburg will plant more than 1,200 plants and trees along the banks of Booker Creek at Campbell Park.
Also on Saturday, there will be an Earth Day cleanup at Crescent Lake from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Volunteers are needed to help with shoreline trash pick up and weeding. Additionally, volunteers will be corralling and moving the water lettuce. Parking and bathrooms are available at 1320 Fifth St. N in the lot of the baseball field clubhouse.
3. Kicking for a Cure Kickball Tournament
Starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, players will be "Kicking for a Cure" at a kickball tournament at Woodlawn Park, which is located at 1450 16th St. N. All proceeds will benefit the LIVESTRONG Foundation, which supports cancer research and empowers cancer patients worldwide.
4. Mainsail Arts Festival
The Mainsail Arts Festival will celebrate its 37th anniversary on April 21 and 22. This exciting outdoor art festival attracts more than 250 artists from across the country. Once again, the event will be held at Vinoy Park , on St. Petersburg's downtown waterfront. The event is free and begins at 9 a.m.
5. Paddle Board Race
On Sunday at the Pier, there will be multiple paddleboard races including competitive races and children's races. According to a news release, there are race courses for all levels: an elite race of 7.5 miles form Picnic Island to Spa Beach or Super Elite from Spa Beach to Picnic Island and back. For more casual paddle boarders, there is a 3-mile race along the waterfront and around Bird Island. The event is free and races begin at 8 a.m. The last race kicks off at 11 a.m. Want to sign up?
