Body of Man Washes up Near Mahaffey Theater
The 73-year-old male has been identified but police are not releasing the name until next-of-kin have been notified.
The body of a 73-year-old man washed up near the Mahaffey Theater in downtown St. Petersburg Thursday evening.
According to Mike Puetz, police public information office, there was identification in the pockets of the man's jogging suit, but police are not releasing the name until next-of-kin have been notified.
Puetz told Patch there were no signs of trauma or "no suggestions any kind foul play." He said the Medical Examiner will determine how long the male was in the water, but Puetz said it was not very long.
Around 5:15 p.m. police were notified of the body that had apparently washed ashore next to the seawall.
Police said this does not appear to be related to the case of the missing boater in Manatee County earlier this week.

There is barely a tidal flow in the boat basin where the body was found. It's not likely that it washed up as phrased. The person went in the water at the sea wall from the air tower west or the near docks of the marina. Sad nonetheless
