Jonny Reno's thought it was time to bring back an old tradition that was lost somewhere between the 60's and now: water skiing. The show was a blend of modern water sports and a classic ski show.

The Tampa Bay Water Ski Show Team joined forces with Jonny Reno's and the Pier to bring the event to life. Two shows were organized for the day, one at noon and the other at 2 pm.

Music from the Beach Boys, the Monkees and Neil Diamond brought a classic vibe to the water as their influence streamed through the speakers.

Water conditions were less than favorable. Choppy waves and high winds made for a competition in itself for performers.

The event was formed in honor of Florida's 167th year in the union. It was 1845 when Florida became the 27th State of the Union.

A large number of spectators came out to watch the spectacle and were impressed with the displayed athleticism. Cheers and gasps rang out here and there for the half hour long show.

WOW... they kept that a secret! I live South of downtown St Pete and never heard a word about this... Well maybe they might send out press notices to us a 167 years from now for the next one.

But wait! Every Sat. evening at 6 p.m. starting on St. Patrick's Day, YOU and yours can come out to our FREE water spectacular ski show in Oldsmar. We are the largest water ski show team in the Southeast U.S., with skiers of all ages rocking it out on the water for your entertainment.

Our shows feature much larger versions of the ones you saw at The Pier, with glittering costumes, an awesome sound system with special effects, pageantry and some of the most talented show ski performers in the country giving it their all for your entertainment.

Our website is under construction, but here is a link to some recent news coverage of our team, with more information - http://www.abcactionnews.com/dpp/news/region_north_pinellas/tampa-bay-water-ski-show-team-performs-every-saturday-at-tower-lake-in-oldsmar.

So come on out to our show site on Tower Lake off Douglas Rd., right behind the Oldsmar Flea Market. Drive toward the big towers and you will find us.

We have bleacher seating, but you can also bring your own lawn chairs or blankets and we have a concession stand with lots of goodies, to include hot off the grill BBQ. Or bring your own cooler with whatever you like.

Our shows are always FREE with FREE parking too. After the show you can pose with our sparkling performers to show your friends what they missed. Hope to see you there!
