Lynx, Replica War of 1812 Privateer Ship, to Dock in St. Pete

From Jan. 25 - 30 you can purchase ticket to 'sailaway' on the Lynx or just tour the ship. It will be docked at Harborage Marina at Bayboro.

Through Jan. 30 you can tour or take a ride on a 122-foot square top sail schooner called the Lynx.

The Lynx will be sailing into St. Pete at noon Friday, Jan. 25 into Harborage Marina at Bayboro, 1110 3rd St S. Join the flotilla as she fires a salute from her main battery of 6-pounder carronades upon her grand arrival.

The Lynx, according to a news release, is on a five-year mission along the East Coast of the US and Canada to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812 and the Star-Spangled Banner.

According to the Lynx website:

"Lynx is an interpretation of an actual privateer named Lynx built by Thomas Kemp in 1812 in Fell's Point, Maryland. She was among the first ships to defend American freedom by evading the British naval fleet then blockading American ports and serving in the important privateering efforts."
