It's clear why the presidential candidates and their families are such frequent visitors to the Sunshine State: The race between President Barack Obama and Gov. Mitt Romney is a dead heat.
A new Quinnipiac University poll shows Florida too close to call. Obama leads 48 percent to Romney at 47 percent, within a 3 percent margin of error. The poll was taken between Oct. 23-28.
In late September, Obama had a nine-point lead in a previous Q-poll.

Marc Caputo of the Miami Herald reports that 2.7 million ballots have been cast out of 12 million registered voters. An estimated 75 percent of registered voters are expected to take part in the 2012, meaning that 30 percent of voters have cast their ballots early.
Are Dems 'Cleaning the Clocks' of GOP'ers?
Palm Beach County Republicans are concerned about Democrats staking out an advantage in early voting, according to a memo obtained by FLDemocracy/WPTV. The memo, from an adviser to a local GOP campaign, said that the Democratic turnout effort is "cleaning our clock."
"The early and absentee turnout is starting to look more troubling," the GOP operative said in the memo sent Tuesday. "Even if Romney wins the state (likely based on polls), the turnout deficit in PBC will affect our local races."

Floridians understand hurricanes, storm damage, relief efforts, costs of rebuilding and the vital importance of federal aid and presidential leadership. The Obama-Christie duo helicopter survey & mutual-admiration society remarks is likely to tip Florida into the Obama camp for Nov. 6. Losing both Ohio and Florida would, without any other battleground states considered, re-elect Obama for another four years and allow Mitt Romney to keep stoking his fortunes in the Caymans and China.

Very doubtful, John... The voters know a political photo-op when they see one, and it's not going to sway voters... What does sway voters is the economy, jobs, and incidents like Benghazi - a tragedy/disgrace/coverup that has yet to be explained by Obama? Why? Because he doesn't have an explanation... He's going to stonewall until after the election, and then blame the CIA and/or the State Department... What a scum bag... No one should vote for this guy and reward those lies with a second term...

I don't think that any pre-Sandy polls matter at this point and especially not pre-Sandy Florida polls. This has put FEMA on the front burner and the fact that Romney is intentionally and repeatedly dodging questions on FEMA isn't going unnoticed around the country and specifically in states like Florida.
Nobody can ever predict what the October Surprise will be, but this year it is how FEMA was just brought to the forefront of this campaign and the fact that Romney is on record of wanting to get rid of it and now won't speak at all on it.

Fema is now at the forefront of the presidential campaign. Louisiana will remember.
So will all coastal states, including North Carolina and Virginia. And Romney recommended "privatizing" it? Just how would that work? Can you imagine private companies bidding on rescuing people from storms and on providing disaster relief in the form of shelters, clothes, food? That storm will move the needle plenty -- and not in Romney's direction.

The Republican party was so offensive to women, non-white people, and non-christians, it's unbelievable to me that people from those same groups voted for them although I know they did. It's a fallacy to think if they had put forth Marco Rubio, they would have garnered the Hispanic vote. That's equally offensive assuming Hispanics are stupid and wouldn't see through his thin veneer.
Sandy's comments are exactly the kind of thing I'm talking about. People like that are becoming less significant as the white vote goes down and others go up. We'll tolerate you but we're not going to let you run anything.
