Radio's Bubba the Love Sponge to Hand Checks to Widows of Fallen St. Pete Officers

Three widows of St. Petersburg officers killed in the line of duty in 2011 will each receive a charitable check for $26,500.

 

ST. PETERSBURG – Radio shock jock Bubba the Love Sponge will present a check for $26,500 to each of the three widows whose police officer husbands were fatally shot in the line of duty in 2011.

The money comes from the Bubba the Love Sponge Foundation, with funds raised through the Third Annual Bikes for Badges. The checks will be presented Thursday at the Sun Coast Police Benevolent Association office in Clearwater.

Receiving the checks are Lorraine Yaslowitz, wife of K-9 Officer Jeffrey Yaslowitz; Paige Baitinger, Sgt. Thomas Baitinger's wife; and Donna Crawford, who was married to Patrol Officer David Crawford. All three St. Petersburg officers were killed in 2011.

The presentation will take place Thursday, June 23, at  1:30 p.m., at 14141 46th St. N., Suite 1205,  Clearwater.

The Bubba the Love Sponge Foundation is a nonprofit organization that has raised more than $240,000 for fallen police officers.

The Bubba The Love Sponge Show is a nationally syndicated talk radio show based in Tampa. The highly-rated show is heard locally on 102.5, WHPT-FM.

This must make him a hero after castrating and slautering a pig during his radio show several years ago. A stunt he and his producer claim they would never do over as "it was in bad taste". But had they not received so much bad publicity we would probably see a repeat performance.
