Solid Giant's Colossal Set at the Emerald in St. Pete

The New Orleans metal band played crowd favorites like 'Morphine Tomb' and 'Serpent Tomb.'

ST. PETERSBURG – New Orleans Doom Metal duo, Solid Giant, stopped by the Emerald Bar Monday night as part of their Southeasten tour.

Bandmates as well as cousins, Mike Nick and Jason Meserole did not need a bass guitar to get their fans ears bleeding. Solid Giant relies on a guitar and drum combo to get directly to the point.

St. Petersburg metal favorites Man Made took the honors of warming the crowd up with their own heavy sound.

Fianlly it was time for the main event as the nationally touring Solid Giant began to set up their equipment.

Black Metal maniacs rejoiced as Isay Isay recordings artists Solid Giant took the stage at 11 p.m. and cranked out crowd favorites like "Morphine Tomb" and "Serpent Tomb" as well as new unheard gems that were still in progess.

The nearly hour-long set left many Emerald patrons with ringng ears as they exited the building around midnight.

A small merchadise table was set up in the back corner of the venue, which sold Solid Giant's CDs as well as T-Shirts at very reasonable prices.

Solid Giant's next show is at The Atlantic in Gainesville on Aug. 5.
