St. Pete Man Dies After Motorcycle Crash
Police said the driver was not wearing a helmet.
A 1999 Kawasaki motorcycle was being driven at a high rate of speed and in a reckless manner eastbound on 62nd Avenue North when the driver hit the curb and flipped down into the embankment.
According to St. Petersburg Police, James Wagenman was treated by St. Petersburg Fire Rescue at the scene and transported to Bayfront Medical Center where he was pronounced dead as a result of his injuries.
Police said in the 1400 block of 62nd Avenue Northeast, the road curves slightly left. Wagenman, a news release said, was driving straight, scraping along the curb and eventually leaving the south side of the roadway. The motorcycle initially went down on its right side, then flipped over and began tumbling down a slight embankment.
Wagenman was ejected and came to rest east of the motorcycle. Police said he was not wearing a helmet.
