SWAT Team at St. Pete House

A suspect was taken into custody Wednesday night for pointing a gun at a St. Petersburg Police officer.

The suspect has been taken into custody, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

A Pinellas County SWAT team has surrounded a house at 4480 40th St. in unincorporated St. Petersburg.

At 4:20 p.m. Wednesday, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office sent the SWAT team to help the St. Petersurg Police Department search for a suspect wanted for aggravated assault on a police officer, according to a press release from the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

Officers are targeting the residence at 4480 40th St. N, Unit #1, in unincorporated St. Petersburg. A perimeter has been set in the area of the home.

The suspect pointed a gun at a St. Petersburg Police officer during a traffic stop last night, the press release said.

The suspect fled and the investigation led law enforcement to the address in unincorporated St. Pete. Stay with Patch for details.

Unfortunately, seeing a story about a SWAT team brings up the horrible memory of how they should have been called in when Lacy hid, armed, in the attic and two officers were told to climb a ladder to get him out (and they knew he was armed) and now those two officers are dead.
