Update: Two Shot Inside Club Scene
St. Petersburg Police said two people were shot during an altercation inside Club Scene early Wednesday morning.
Update, 11 a.m.: The two victims of Wednesday morning's shooting at Club Scene are Deonte R. Archer and Kendric D. Stephens.
According to the police report, Archer, 23, was a patron inside of the Scene
nightclub at the time of the shooting. Police said Archer sustained a gunshot wound to his right leg.
Police said the 22-year-old Stephens, whose injury appears much more serious, was shot in the back and leg.
Archer told officers that he was walking up some stairs inside of the
nightclub when he was pushed from behind.
Archer and the person who pushed him then became involved in a physical
altercation. Several gunshots then rang out from somewhere inside of the establishment.
Officers on the scene said the crowd last night was larger than normal, and provide a crowd estimate ranging from 800 - 1,000 people inside the club at the time of the shooting.
Police said that after the shooting, officers confiscated 27 grams of marijuana found in plain view at various locations inside of the club and said that a "strong odor of marijuana lingered in the air several hours after the shooting."
Investigators are requesting the public's assistance with locating witnesses who were at the club at the time of the shooting.
Earlier: Just after 2 a.m. Wednesday morning, two people were shot at Club Scene in downtown St. Petersburg.
According to the St. Petersburg Police Department, at about 2:09 a.m. Wednesday between 800 and 1,000 people were in the club at the time of the altercation.
Police said among the hundreds of people, two were shot inside the club. At this time, police said they have no known motives and the investigation is continuing.
The victim's and/or suspect's information has not been released.
