Welcome to this week's Patch Minute! What are you doing this weekend? In Gulfport Stop by the First Friday Art Walk on Beach Boulevard in Gulfport. From 6 - 8 p.m. local vendors will be set up with goodies, home decor and local art. On the 2800 block you'll find local artists performing live demo's of their work as part of Fine Arts Friday, sponsored by the Gulfport Merchants Association and Industrial Arts Center. Welcome to this week's Patch Minute! Treasure Island The Sanding Ovations Masters Cup is going on now through Sunday, Nov. 18. Stop by the Bilmar Beach Resort on Treasure Island and watch the best in the business create art out of sand. The invitational competition brings internationally renowned sand artists to our beautiful beaches! At the end of the event, the sculptures will be judged and the top four sculptures and a “people’s choice” sculpture will be awarded over $12,000. In St. Petersburg: Teens and adults are invited to participate in the Field of Screams on Friday, Oct. 26 through Sunday, Oct. 28 and again on Halloween. TASCO presents the 7th annual Field of Screams featuring “Quarantine,” from 7 p.m. to midnight at Boyd Hill Environmental Studies Area, 2900 31st Street South. A special encore night will be featured on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 7 p.m. to midnight. Each night, “Quarantine” challenges participants to navigate through the dark woods, escape the village, break out of the decontamination tent, escape the safe house and flee to safety. In St Pete If you're not quite ready for Halloween, we have the 3rd annual St. Pete Oktoberfest this Friday and Saturday in the Grand Central District. The street festival will be at 2200 Central Avenue and will include beer tastings and live music. Tickets are $25 in advance, $35 at the gate. To buy tickets check out the event's website. On the Beaches Celebrate the end of summer at Harry's Beach Bar on Friday behind the Sirata Beach Resort. The second annual Sand Dance kicks off at 6 p.m. The event is free and will feature drink specials and music by the Horny Toads. You're invited to dance in the sand or around the fire pit. The 12th Annual Geckofest is the premier event in this week's Patch Minute. The free end-of-summer festival is expected to lure 30,000 people to Gulfport.
