If You Can’t Stand the Heat…. Stay Away from the Fire at DFAC

There seems to be some type of heat involved with so many events at the Dunedin Fine Art Center (DFAC). DFAC’s Sterling Society is looking to turn it up a notch on Sunday, Oct. 7, when they present Men on Fire for the Arts, their newest event for DFAC at Weaver Park, Dunedin’s newest waterfront park from 3:30 to 6:30 pm.

“We think this is the perfect venue for this event” noted Deborah Kynes, Men on Fire’s co-chair.  “What could be better than a beautiful waterfront park setting for a grilling party?” she asked.

And what a grilling party it’s going to be! Eight community leaders, serving as “Celebrity Chefs” will be firing up their grills to cook up their recipes based on the theme of Florida Fusion Grilling“We thought that this would be a great starting point to fire up all our chef’s creative juices” suggested Susan Benjamin the event’s other co-chair.  “It leaves it open to a pretty wide variety of spicing and flavors.”

The Celebrity Chefs include Aaron Fodiman, Tampa Bay Magazine's Publisher/Editor, who will serve as Chef Grill Master; Dunedin's Vice mayor, Ron Barnette;  Sean Daly, Tampa Bay Times Pop Music Critic;  Ed Halleran, President, Nurses Choice; John Hubbard, retired City of Dunedin Attorney; Jeremy Kurella, Pinellas County Sheriff's Department (Dunedin); Senator Jack Latvala; and Michael Webb, chef at DFAC’s own Palm Café, who will also serve as the Supervisory Chef for the “Men on Fire for the Arts” event.

Members of the Dunedin Firefighters Association will serve as “Celebrity Bartenders”.

In typical fashion DFAC is again providing some great music. The party is sure to be even hotter with LIVE music being provided by Orlando’s Best Folk Act two years running the Mud Flappers! “This band should be the perfect accompaniment to this down-home event” offered George Ann Bissett, DFAC’s Executive Director. “They’re noted for their ‘Floridana’ sort of style delivering ecstatic live performances with their traditional acoustic instruments.”

A Sunset Sponsor After Party, “The Fire Extinguishers,” will be held at the historic Blatchley House on the grounds of Weaver Park from 6:30 until 8 p.m. The party will still be going strong with music and entertainment provided by Sarah McAdoo.

Prices to attend begin at $100 per person. Sponsorship levels range from $500 to $5,000 dollars.

Attendance is limited to 150 persons, so get your tickets EARLY! Tickets are available online at www.dfac.org
