The City of St. Petersburg is offering about $175,000 in grants to eligible nonprofit arts and cultural organizations for the next budget year to assit them in underwriting their operating expenses.
Organizations interested in applying for this money are encouraged to attend this workshop. Applications and guidelines to receive funds are available online at www.stpete.org/budget/grantsc.asp. The applications are due on or before Friday, June 15.
The city says its Arts Advisory Committee will evaluate the applications and make recommendations to City Council in October. To be eligible, a nonprofit cultural organization must serve the residents of St. Petersburg. The amount provided to each organization depends on the merit of the application and the operating budget of the organization.
Organizations that received funding this current budget year include the Morean Arts Center, American Stage Theatre Company and the St. Petersburg Opera Company.

More About Saint Petersburg City Hall
The City Council holds its meetings at City Hall. The historic downtown building is also the office for the eight councilors and the mayor. The Council's regular meetings are held in the Council Chambers at the following times: first Thursday, 8:30am; 2nd Thursday, 3pm; 3rd Thursday, 3pm. The meetings are open to the public. Recordings of Council meetings can be found on the city government website. WSPF-TV, the local cable access station, also airs the meetings on channels 15, 35 (broadcast) or 615. The meetings are also streamed on the city's website.
