Halfacre Construction and The Friendship Center Debut New Space

Wrapping up a six-month construction project, The Friendship Centers’ Caregiving Center debuted a new look with help from the Halfacre Construction Company team.

The Caregiving Center is home to the Living Room Adult Day Services, the Caregiver Resource Center and The Road Scholar Program. The renovation began last fall and was completed in early 2014.

“We are proud to have been involved with this project to renovate The Friendship Centers’ living room and kitchen,” said Tom Rees, Halfacre Construction Project Manager. “We completed the project without uprooting and moving those who spend their days here and benefit from the services. We were able to interact with the clients, which added an additional sense of pride since you actually see who you’re helping. Because of the phased construction, it took a little longer than usual, but the result was fantastic,” he said.

The building, located at 1888 Brother Geenen Way in Sarasota, was constructed in 1980. Changes to the 6,500 square foot space include extensive structural and design changes, and fresh colors and modern decor that breathe new life into the center for clients and visitors to enjoy.

“Everyone who sees the new Caregiving Center is impressed,” said Senior Vice President Erin McLeod. “It has an elegance and simplicity that is soothing and inviting. Caregivers and clients enjoy this beautifully renovated facility.”

As the area's oldest, most established, locally-owned and operated private commercial construction company, Halfacre Construction’s foundational strengths stand as evidence that its commercial and industrial construction projects will be delivered on time, within budget, with the utmost integrity and with the expertise and financial strength needed for success.

President Jack Cox serves as president of the Suncoast Charities for Children and is an appointed member of the Probable Cause Panel of the Construction Industry Licensing Board for the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation. Halfacre Construction also offers its expertise as a green building provider with the resources available to build viable, effective alternatives to reduce energy consumption and preserve natural resources. Staff includes U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) certified professionals who have demonstrated proficiency in green building practices and who possess a thorough grasp of the LEED Green Building Rating System.
