Kirk Pinkerton's Bill Robertson Establishes Helping Our Heroes Initiative

Bill Robertson, CEO and personal injury attorney for the prestigious Kirk Pinkterton, P.A. in Sarasota, establishes the Helping Our Heroes initiative, a collaborative, nonprofit concept to assist returning military veterans with their financial and employment needs.

“Kirk Pinkerton strives to give back to the community in various ways, and I’ve always been passionate about veteran causes,” said Robertson, whose father was also an attorney and a decorated, combat-wounded World War II lieutenant.

Robertson, a fifth generation attorney, brings his passion for justice to the airwaves every Friday from 4 – 5 p.m. on “Let’s Talk Law,” a radio show that covers every legal subject and takes listeners beyond the courtroom. The show airs on 106.9FM and 1220AM WSRQ in Sarasota. On the last Friday of each month, the show is dedicated to veterans and the Helping Our Heroes Initiative.

Launched in March, the veterans’ show has a three-part format. At the beginning of the segment, Robertson focuses on the financial need of an anonymous veteran, including tuition, rent or other assistance. A veteran seeking employment also joins the live show to discuss his or her service and skill set. Several veterans have secured jobs in this community thanks to the radio show.

An area executive participates on each show to discuss their business and employment opportunities available for veterans. Jaime DiDomenico, president and owner of Sarasota-based CoolToday, hired U.S. Navy veteran Jessica Baldwin after meeting and hearing her story.

Baldwin, a mother of two and a full-time nursing student, was surprised and humbled by the radio show’s response. “It’s amazing what Bill Robertson is doing for our communities’ veterans,” said Baldwin. “Transitioning from military duty to civilian life is hard, and this show helps bring that to light. I could sense the camaraderie for veterans and the genuine willingness to help.”

Another past guest, decorated U.S. Marine Col. John Saputo, owner of Gold Coast Eagle Distributors, employs a number of veterans because of their discipline and dedication. He has connected with several job prospects through the Helping Our Heroes Initiative.

Future radio show guests include Observer Media Group CEO and Editor Matt Walsh (May 30); Mercedes Medical CEO Alex Miller (June 27); and John Horne, president and owner of Anna Maria Oyster Bar (July 25).
