Breakfast with the Mayor

Mayor Bill Foster will be at Banyan Cafe Wednesday morning for his regular Breakfast with the Mayor event. Starting at 7 a.m., Foster will be at Banyan Cafe so residents can share their thoughts or concerns directly. Banyan Cafe is located at 689 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. St. N.  

Lowry Park Zoo Has a New Star

Visitors to Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo are in for a treat courtesy of new arrival Mavi. The baby African elephant was born back in July, but her name was just selected courtesy of Bay area residents who voted in a contest and the little bundle of joy’s Mom, Matjeka.

More Afternoon Storms on Tap

While forecasters anticipate blue skies and plenty of sunshine as the kids head off to school Wednesday, another round of afternoon storms is likely on the horizon. Highs in the 90s are expected again today, as well.

USF Students Are Coming Back

The University of South Florida will be bustling with activity today, the first day of move-in, according to a USF press release. About 3,000 of 5,500 residential students are expected to move into residence halls with the help of their families and friends. Fall semester classes begin Monday, Aug. 26.
