St. Pete Times seeks to rezone and develop Green Space tonight

Neighbors in the N. Kenwood neighborhood have signed a petition opposing the St. Pete Times' request to rezone the one block length of green space that runs parallel to 34th St. in front of its printing building at the corner of 13th AV N. across the street from a residential neighborhood.  The property was never posted for sale under its current zoning and now the Times wants it to be rezoned for commercial development despite a glut of empty commercial space in that area. The Times is not letting us know whether they have a buyer and what they intend to put there.  This is the only green space left along 34th St. for dozens of blocks and contains a large pond used by many wading birds.  Please come down to City Hall at 6:00 tonight and register your objection.  It may be hard for councilpeople who curry the favor of the Times in order to get an endorsement to say NO to the newspaper. Let them know what the voters' feelings are about this.
