'Early Autumn' Not Coming to St. Petersburg

Forecasters say Tampa Bay area residents can plan on another hot week with strong chances for showers in the afternoon and evening hours.

St. Petersburg residents hoping for a break from the heat and afternoon storms aren’t going to get it anytime soon.

“Unfortunately, no early autumn is coming,” said National Weather Service meteorologist Tyler Fleming.

With highs in the low 90s inland and upper 80s near the coast anticipated throughout the week, Bay area residents can count on another steamer this week. Rain chances are also pretty high through the week, around the 50-percent range, most days, Fleming said.

On the upside, Fleming said those rain chances aren’t likely to materialize until the afternoon and into the evening hours most days. Rain chances go down a bit as the week continues.
