Pinellas Trail To Get Security Cameras
A high-crime section of the Pinellas Trail is getting security cameras installed by the fall.
Bikers and cyclists using the Pinellas Trail should feel a bit safer this fall as with new security cameras placed along crime-ridden sections of the path.
The surveillance will include 25 security cameras along a portion of the 42-mile rail trail which passes through St. Petersburg and areas of Dunedin, Clearwater, and Largo, The St. Petersburg Tribune reports.
The cameras are planned for an area of the trail between 43rd and 49th Streets South, just north of 8th Avenue South.

Earlier this year in February, 10 News reported a couple robbed at gunpoint and a woman pistol-whipped and teeth knocked out in the area where the new cameras are to be installed.
Various reports put the price tag of the equipment at $100,000.
