St. Pete Helps Hurricane Sandy Victims

Firefighters have been collecting clothes, new undergarments, canned food, water, baby supplies and toiletries every day since Monday, Nov. 5.

St. Petersburg Fire & Rescue in conjunction with Local 747 wants to thank everyone for the tremendous outpouring of donations and supplies for the victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Residents of New Jersey and New York continue to clean up after the Super Storm made landfall last week and St. Petersburg firefighters wanted to help.

Firefighters have been collecting new and gently used clothes, new undergarments, canned food, water, baby supplies (diapers, food, clothes) and toiletries every day from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. since Monday, Nov. 5.

"The outpouring of supplies has been incredible" stated, Firefighter Chris Spafford. Spafford is planning on leaving tonight, driving the packed 24' box truck with supplies to the damaged north. "We've got so much that we can fill another truck," stated Spafford.

Anything donated after the trucks leave will go to local shelters.

Fire departments' Local 747 is located WHERE here in St. Petersburg? I'd like to add to the donations collected. Thanks for answering. :-)
