1. Council Seeks to Balance Aesthetics, Crime Issues on Central Ave

Concerned about the appearance and increasing presence of chain-link fences along Central Avenue, council member Jeff Danner and city council have asked city staff to help limit future fences.

2. Kriseman Has Large Lead Over Foster in Latest Poll

Incumbent Mayor Bill Foster trails challenger Rick Kriseman by nearly 10 points among registered voters, according to the latest survey from StPetePolls.

Foster fared better in a survey of people who voted in the August primary, but still trails Kriseman by six points in that survey, results show.

3. AVP St. Pete Finals Canceled Due to Weather

As gusty winds and hard rains swept through St. Petersburg Sunday the AVP St. Pete beach volleyball tournament had to be suspended and then canceled.

4. Cycle Brewing: Born in Gulfport, Expanding into St. Pete

The craft brewery has earned praise from beer enthusiasts from across Tampa Bay and the country. After serving great tasting beer in Gulfport for the past year, Brewmaster Doug Dozark opened a second location and official tasting room in downtown St. Pete.

5. Hunt for Fugitive Leads to Four Arrests

In a hunt for a fugitive wanted on charges of auto theft, the St. Petersburg Police Office and the United States Marshal Service arrested and charged three women for child abuse after they allegedly left their children alone with the fugitive.
