1. Florida Poll: 'Yes' on Weed, Crist Over Scott, Split on Gay Marriage

Florida Republican Gov. Rick Scott looks to be in trouble heading into the 2014 governor's race should he be challenged by St. Pete resident Charlie Crist, according to results from the latest StPetePolls survey.

2. St. Pete Cop Witnesses Drive-By Shooting, Catches Alleged Shooter

No one was shot, including a 7-year-old who was home at the time, and the alleged shooter and driver were quickly captured by a St. Petersburg Police officer who saw the whole thing.

3. New Pier Stats Released: Caissons OK, Demolition Delay

No new “Lens” pier renderings were unveiled Thursday during a presentation at City Hall but new information was released about the viability of the existing caissons, results of the wind study and when the demolition of the inverted pyramid could take place.

4. St. Pete Woman Leads World Bikini Competition

Charlotte Lambert-Jolley, who is well-known in St. Petersburg, has emerged in first place in the Ms. Bikini World competition.

5. 828 Alliance Considers Another Pier Jury Should 'Lens' Fail

The mayor's 828 Pier Alliance is discussing going through a similar process to choose a new pier should voters decide to cancel the city's contract with Maltzan to build the "Lens."

At its Aug. 1 meeting, 828 Alliance members talked about having another pier design competition and another pier jury.
