1. Walmart to Replace Closed Midtown Sweetbay

Seven months after the Midtown Sweetbay closed its doors, Mayor Bill Foster and city officials confirmed the worst kept secret in St. Petersburg, Walmart will be taking its place. 

2. Police: Officer Shoots Man Charging with an Ax

A St. Petersburg man is dead after he was shot by police for running at an officer while holding an ax, according to St. Petersburg Police PIO Mike Puetz. 

3. St. Pete 2014 Budget, Millage Rate Approved

With an additional $300,000 pulled from reserves, the St. Petersburg 2014 budget and millage rate are set.

4. St. Pete Brasserie to Close

Sad news for St. Petersburg food lovers, St. Pete Brasserie announced on Facebook Wednesday that it would close its doors for good Saturday. 

5. Yum! Red Robin Set to Open in St. Pete

Red Robin, the national gourmet burger chain, will be opening in St. Petersburg Monday, Oct. 7 inside the Tyrone Square Mall.
