Saturday Morning Market: Locals Buying Local

Winter is the harshest season for people up north. Not so in Florida, where consumers can find a bounty of local fruits and vegetables. There's no better place than the Saturday Morning Market in St. Petersburg for fresh produce and hand-crafted foods.

One of St. Petersburg's greatest attractions is it simplest: the Saturday Morning Market, offering locally grown and harvested foods. Farmers from around the state come in to sell fresh fruits and vegetables. But that's only part of the story.

The prepared food stands include some of the city's best barbecue, Cajun sandwiches, French crepes and Cuban sandwiches. You can peruse all sorts of arts and crafts, as well as dry goods and food creations to take home. There's even live music.

It runs from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. every Saturday at Al Lang Field in downtown St. Pete. It's free to get in, but be prepared to pay about $5 to park. It's next to impossible to leave the market without purchasing something.
