A St. Petersburg man is a suspect in the murder of another inmate at the Pinellas County Jail Sunday.

Scott Alexander Greenberg, 28, is charged with first degree murder of Kelly Damon Harding, a 48-year-old homeless man, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

Harding was found unconscious in his cell in the South Division at 12:58 a.m., according to detectives with the robbery/homicide unit.

Harding was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

An emergency room physician found wet toilet paper in Harding's throat and injuries consistent with strangulation, according to investigators.

Greenberg, Harding's cellmate, was determined to be the suspect after interviews and statements from other inmates, detectives said.

Greenberg is charged with first degree murder and is in an isolation cell.

Greenberg was in jail since Aug. 28, 2012 accused of second degree murder, according to arrest records.

Harding was in jail since Oct. 27, 2012 on charges of burglary of an unoccupied conveyance.
