Pizza Place Goes Pink (and Green) in October

No we're not talking about a funky new topping. A pizza chain with shops in west central Florida is helping in the fight against breast cancer.

Hungry Howie's Love, Hope & Pizza campaign is raising funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF), which is ranked in the top three percent of charities in America. NBCF’s mission is to provide mammograms to women in need and offer educational resources such as Beyond The Shock®. Last October, Hungry Howie’s raised over $225,000 for NBCF. This October the goal is to raise $250,000 with Hungry Howie’s well on its way at 63 percent of its goal to date.

Vinyl from last year’s Love, Hope & Pizza billboards was recycled to create tote bags to promote the campaign and raise money for NBCF. The tote bags are being utilized by media as giveaways. In addition, totes may be purchased from G2 GreenGear with a donation being made to NBCF. “This is a great green product and a great way we can be responsible by recycling our billboards to help support NBCF and make a difference in the early detection and education of breast cancer,” says Hungry Howie’s Founder Jim Hearn.

“Love and hope helped get me through breast cancer, and to me, pizza means good times with people getting together. I am honored to be associated with Love, Hope & Pizza,” says Hungry Howie’s associate and two-time breast cancer survivor Andrea Adair. Founder/CEO of NBCF and 32-year breast cancer survivor Janelle Hail says, "NBCF values Hungry Howie’s partnership in sharing our mission of helping women by providing free mammograms, education, support, and early detection services. Together we can make a difference in women’s lives and offer them hope.”

Throughout October, all large pizzas are being served in pink boxes with the breast cancer awareness ribbon. For every large pizza purchased at Florida and Alabama locations, Hungry Howie's will make a donation to NBCF. An additional $1 will also be donated to NBCF when customers purchase Love, Hope & Pizza wristbands, become a new fan or share a breast cancer story on the Hungry Howie’s Facebook page, and for every tweet using the hashtag #lovehopepizza. Hungry Howie’s Facebook fans can also make a donation directly to NBCF through the Facebook page.
