4th Street Starbucks' New Look – Like It?

A high-traffic Starbucks near the 5th Avenue access road to I-275 has a new, more comfortable look, after an intensive two weeks of overnight remodeling that kept the shop open, brewing and buzzing with caffeinated customers during the day.
The "new" Starbucks Coffee had what might be described as a very soft opening last week. There were no ads, promotions or signs. But the place is transformed. What do you think of the changes?
Gone are most of the tiny tables for two that dotted the perimeter of the shop at 900 4th St. North. Now there is a long "sip-and-chat" wood table, with iron legs bolted to the floor and electric outlets conveniently tucked underneath the table top for laptop users.

The menu boards behind the baristas are gone, too. Who needed them anyway?
Now there is a long mural of a street scene, perhaps out of Old Italy. It has a vintage feel to it and seems to make the entire shop feel more expansive.

There also are new tile floors, a comfortable (small) leather sofa, table and chairs, and a color scheme of burnished browns and earth tones.
This popular St. Pete Starbucks still handles droves of morning and afternoon commuters – and perhaps will get even more customers, as it emphasizes prepared salads and sandwiches for the lunch crowd.
But it no longer is just a place to queue up for a jolt of coffee but also a shop that seems to invite patrons to stay a while before rejoining the mad work week rush.
