Don't Resist the Romance in Dating

The essence of romance is about showing and making the other feel respected, special and valued.

Oh, romance! A dozen red roses, candy, doors opened, candlelight dinners, champagne, and surprise weekend getaways…Oh yeah, and steamy sex.

"Wait. Wait, we’re just dating!"

Often, when we think about romance the old-fashioned “courting or to be courted” comes to mind.

He goes to open her car door and she is thinking…"I am today’s woman I certainly can do this myself, or maybe he just wants a leg shot?"

Oh, my, NO ladies!

He is beginning the dance of courting. Romance and courting are nothing more than an endeavor to gain affections.  It is the onset of expressing the “love language,” an emotional attachment or involvement between two people.

Men and Women perceive romance differently.

In the courting stage, men will be at times more outgoing, bring the flowers, wine, etc., but he may also show his affection in more subtle everyday gestures.

Men are also in need of romance, so ladies start courting your men!

Begin with compliments; flattery gets you everywhere.

A man’s ability to provide or do something well gives him a sense of pride and helps define his identity.  Praise him for his skills as nothing is more rewarding to a man than knowing his woman is in awe of him.

Keep your man on his toes by surprising him with small romantic gestures. Surprise him with his favorite dinner, favorite drink and/or back/foot rub.

Listen to what he likes and surprise him with tickets to his see his favorite sport, concert or movie.

Simple is the key, listening is what it is all about to take the romance “courting” to the next level.  Romancing is not about what you give or what exactly you do.  The essence of romance is about showing and making the other feel respected, special and that they have value.

Being romantic is a declaration you give to someone. Open yourself up to the idea. Enjoy the ride.

Oh. And the steamy sex? Oh, yes. There will be plenty of that, too!
