Fire Leaves 11 Homeless, Woman Charged with Arson

According to St. Petersburg Fire & Rescue, 11 people will be temporarily homeless as a result of the fire. The complex is located at 2018 N Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. St.

St. Petersburg Police have arrested 47-year-old Paula J. Ayer and charged her with arson Sunday after allegedly setting fire to her apartment complex. 

According to St. Petersburg Fire & Rescue, 11 people will be temporarily homeless as a result of the fire. The complex is located at 2018 N Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. St.

Firefighters said due to the fire in the attic area of all 10 units involved, Red Cross would assist with relocation of nine adult males and two adult females.

According to the report, the fire started around 6:50 a.m. Sunday in Unit 10 and quickly spread to the common attic area. The fire forced the evacuation of all 10 units, a news release said.

Police said Ayer resides in Unit 10.

There were no injures at this fire, according to the report.
