Last Mayoral Debate

CONA NAACP Mayoral Debate Oct 23rd

CONA and NAACP shall host and moderate a unique debate
between the Mayor Bill Foster and his Challenger Rick Kriseman. The debate
shall be broken up into 4 rounds.



Round One: During
the September CONA meeting the neighborhoods had a frank discussion about what
they need the city to do better. CONA president shall have that frank
discussion with both candidates. Candidates shall be questioned in a back and
forth manner similar to being on the stand in a court room. Specific topics
will include:

1.       Perception
and role of CONA and the neighborhoods in respect to the city.



2.       Codes
Department, Nuisance and repeat offender Ordinances.



3.       SPPD.



Round Two:
President of NAACP Saint Petersburg shall have a frank discussion with both
candidates. Candidates shall be questioned in a back and forth manner similar
to being on the stand in a court room. Specific topics will include:



1.       Democracy and
Voting Rights; Increased democracy and protected and enhanced voting rights



2.       Health
equality for all Americans including a healthy life and high-quality health
care



3.       Education; A
free, high-quality, public education for all



4.       Public Safety
and Criminal Justice; Equitable dispensation of justice for all



5.       Economic
Sustainability; A chance to live the American Dream for all



 



Round Three:
Neighborhood Association Presidents shall ask (1 minute max) questions with
candidates having 2 minute (max) responses with the candidates choice of
picking one question to have a 4 minute response if they so choose.



 



Round Four: The
Candidates shall have 5 minutes to question their competitor like they are on
the stand in a court room, after the line of questioning the candidate on the
stand will have one minute to rebut the line of questioning. The candidates
will then get 3 minutes for closing remarks each.
