It's Time To Vote - Judges and Amendments

Most voters don't pay a lot of attention to these ballot opportunities.

Here is some information on candidates and Amendments you don't hear much about in the blizzard of campaign ads.

Confused by all those Amendments and curious about what happened to Amendment 7?  Here is a great link, Making Sense of Florida's 11 Constitutional Amendments with some solid and simple explanation of the Amendments. No one is telling you how to vote, just providing some clarity.

There is a little more action in the Florida Supreme Court retention election this year than in the past. Conservatives have targeted three liberal judges for removal from the Court. The New York Times has published an interesting review "G.O.P. Aims to Remake Florida Supreme Court"

District 2 Court, which serves Pinellas County, Judges are also up for retention. These races don't seem to be as contentious as the Supreme Court Races. The Tampa Bay Times has an excellent review of the candidates and their qualifications at "Know you Candidates".

If you have a mail in ballot, you can sit down at your computer, do a couple of GOOGLE searches  and get up to speed pretty quickly. But if you wait and go to your polling place to vote without any pre-study and a list of what you want to vote for and against, you are going to be lost.

Most voters don't pay a lot of attention to these ballot opportunities. Some just vote "yes" on all of them, some vote "no" on all of them, some just alternate yes and no down the ballot. None of these are good "voting systems".

Take few minutes and explore the links above. The Amendments are important. They directly affect your pocket book and quality of life.

The conservative vs liberal status of the State Supreme Court affects all of us. If you have an opinion vote it.

Regardless of you stand on abortion, you need to read Amendment 6 and vote your conscious.

These amendments affect us all and usually stay in place a long time. Take a few minutes and check out the links above. You can easily become an informed voter.

Load your choices into your smart phone, that way you will have them with you when you get to the voting machine.
