The Republicans are Coming...the Republicans are Coming

The thundering herd of elephants is charging toward Florida. Romney, Paul, Gingrich, Santorum and Huntsman are headed our way. Primary day is Jan. 31.

Brace yourself, the big guys with the big bucks are headed our way: Romney, Paul, Gingrich, Santorum and Huntsman.

Their advance teams are here. Ads are starting to air. You can bet the signs and shirts are being printed. If you're a registered Republican, you are being sliced and diced by every pollster out there.

Note that Bachman and Cain are still on the ballot but no longer in the contest.

If you want to mess with the pollsters, just pick one of them when they call.

If they ask you for a second choice, pick the other one, then hang up. It drives them crazy.

You may just want to go ahead and vote, so you can ignore all the hype. Your mail-in ballot probably showed up on in the last day or so. Mine did.

If so, take a good look at the ballot and the instructions (the yellow sheet in the packet). Be sure to sign that envelope on the back.

Also, if you are planning on going to a polling place to see all the excitement, don't throw the mail-in ballot away; take it with you.

For now, I have mine pinned to a dart board. I periodically toss a dart in that general direction. So far it misses the mark. I am undecided.

My parrot seems to like Ron Paul. Both dogs perk up when they hear Romney speak in that soothing voice. All seem to look the other way when Gingrich talks.

My wife, Theresa, is a registered Democrat, so I am not getting much help at all.

Finally, try not to talk back or scream at the robo call. Mitt, Ron, Newt, Rick or whoever it is can't hear you. Save your voice; just hang up.

Doc, With the current poor choice of GOP candidates, does this mean we may have roving bands of conservative voters wandering the streets- - - burning pink slips hurling insults like "So's your ole man" and pitching unsavory epitaphs like "HECK" or "Swell!". What's a law abiding Democrat to do?

Red: Excellent point on the GOP candidates and a very good question in your post comment, After some serious thought, I would suggest you invite some members of the wandering conservatives in, serve some green tea with lemon (soothing and calming to the nerves), explain in small words the Obama health care plan, throw in a hint that faith based groups will benefit and my guess is you'll get a better than 50% conversion rate. Pun intended.
