Vinoy Yacht Mooring Field Now Open

Until the mooring field is full of permanent residents, it will make a great weekend mooring spot to enjoy down town St. Pete.

The Vinoy Basin, long a spot for derelict vessels has been converted into a first class mooring field operated by the St. Petersburg Municipal Marina.

Here are the rates and information:

  • Daily Rate - $14.00 for vessels up to 40'
  • $17.00 for vessels 41' to 60'
  • Monthly Rate - $400.00 for vessels up to 40'
  • $485.00 for vessels 41' to 60'
  • Vehicle Parking - $2.80 per day, per vehicle
  • Use of the dingy dock is included in your mooring fee. You also will receive 1 pump-out every 10 days free of charge. If additional pump-outs are needed they are $5.00.
  • *ON ALL RATES YOU MUST ADD 7% SALES TAX*

I took a cruise over on Wednesday and the field looks great. It is  well laid out, wide fairways. It might be a little close when it is full but should be OK.

For those of us who have had a really bad Vinoy anchoring experience when the wind gets up out of the east or north east, the mooring field is a real blessing. It will still get a little bouncy but you shouldn't have to worry about boats coming adrift in the middle of the night.

If your interested in having your boat in a really beautiful spot, I would suggest you check it out and get a spot reserved as soon as possible.

Marina staff indicates that currently they do not plan to hold any mooring sites for transients as the field fills up. Until the mooring field is full of permanent residents, it will make a great weekend mooring spot to enjoy down town St. Pete.
