Turkey Chili: Simmer With Garlic, Tomato and Your Favorite Beer

Turkey Chili is easy to make and an excellent source of protein.

Wow. 2012...come and gone. Fastest year of my life.

Looking ahead to 2013, I have high hopes and a few dreams.

I’m not too big on New Year’s resolutions though. For one, they never last, and two, I believe it shouldn’t take a New Year to change something about yourself or your life.

For 2013, however, I have decided I am committing to slowing down to enjoy every minute of my life, not worrying or over-planning for the future.

Menu planning, though, will never cease to exist in my life

Ground Turkey-excellent source of protein, contains cancer protective selenium, good source of niacin and vitamin B6, and contains only half the amount of saturated fat found in beef.
Chili powder-fights inflammation, provides natural pain relief, and can reduce blood cholesterol, triglyceride levels, and platelet aggregation

And speaking of menu planning, I’ve got a few good meals planned this coming week, like this Turkey Chili and some “Paleo” Orange chicken for tomorrow.

What are your New Year’s resolutions? How about making this chili a few times this year? It's so easy to whip up, or start in the crock pot in the morning and head to work.

Turkey Chili

Ingredients
1 lb ground turkey
1/2 onion, diced
1 tbsp garlic powder
1 small can tomato paste
1 large can tomato sauce
1 15 oz can chili, kidney, or black beans (I prefer black)
2 tbsp chili powder
salt to taste
1/3 cup of your favorite beer (optional)

Directions
In a large saucepan brown ground turkey with onion; add garlic powder and season with salt. Drain and return turkey to pot. Add remaining ingredients; bring to a simmer. Cover and simmer until heated through. (Or cook slowly in crock pot all day) Enjoy!

I love Kahwa coffee and the nice folks that own and run it. They have been great citizens of St.Read More Pete. If you have not tried it, you should do so.
