5 Things to Know: March 1

Free Museum Weekend, St. Pete Softball Car Wash Fundraiser, Art in Bloom, Spring Training in St. Pete and Business Listings are five things you need to know today.

1. This weekend, thanks to Museums on Us, Bank of America and Merrill Lynch cardholders will receive free admission to three museums in St. Pete and Tampa, including the ,  and Tampa Museum of Art. Over 150 cultural institutions in 91 cities participate in the Museums on Us program, now in its 15th season.

2. The St. Petersburg High School Green Devils softball team is raising funds by partnering up with St. Pete Maaco Collision Repair & Auto Painting for a car wash on Saturday, March 10, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The car wash will take place in the parking lot of the new Maaco at 2500 34th St N. The Green Devils will be able to keep all the money raised from the car wash. Additionally, father and son team Steve and Jeff Menth of the St. Pete Maaco will donate 10 percent of all proceeds generated during the event.

3. Art in Bloom at the  kicks off Friday at 10 a.m. This popular spring tradition features inventive floral interpretations of works in the museum's collection, as well as entire galleries and spaces. The designers will refresh their creations throughout the exhibit. Plus, the MFA Cafe features a dish with a floral theme each day. Admission is $17.

4. Spring training games in St. Pete are about to begin.  Purchase your tickets now for the 2012 International Spring Baseball Training Series. The series, which runs from March 6 to March 18, features the 2011 World Cup Championship team from the Netherlands, Team Canada and St. Petersburg College playing spring squads from the Tampa Bay Rays, the Detroit Tigers, the Philadelphia Phillies, the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Toronto Blue Jays and the Atlanta Braves. You can also purchase tickets by visiting www.stpetersburginternationalbaseball.com.
