Another Poll Shows Bill Foster Lagging Behind Kathleen Ford, Rick Kriseman in Mayor's Race

In the latest survey conducted by St. Pete Polls for PinskiPolitics.com, Foster lags behind both Kathleen Ford and Rick Kriseman.
The poll of likely St. Petersburg municipal voters, Ford takes a lead with 29.5 percent with Kriseman at 25.4 percent. Foster is third with 24.1 percent and 21 percent undecided.

The study also tested the water for two candidates rumored to be interested in the mayor’s job—Leslie Curran and Wengay Newton.

If Newton enters the race, Ford and Foster ties at 24 percent, with Kriseman close behind at 23 percent, and Newton takes 15 percent. Thirteen percent of voters would be undecided.
The survey shows Newton has “room to grow,” with only 37 percent support of black voters. Somewhat surprisingly, he also receives 13 percent of Republican voters.
District 4 Councilmember Leslie Curran would have to play “catch up” if she decided to rune for St. Petersburg mayor.
If Curran enters the mayoral race, Foster and Ford tie at 26 percent, with Kriseman at 22 percent and Curran at 10 percent. In that four-way race, 15 percent of voters are undecided.
Karl Nurse’s run for another term as City Council Chair remains strong.
Nurse is facing smooth sailing in his re-election bid, but he might have a tougher time if he decided to go for mayor. With Nurse in the race, Ford leads with 28 percent and Foster second with 24 points. Kriseman gets 21 percent, and Nurse is last with 11 percent. Fifteen percent of are undecided.
Another option is Pinellas County Commissioner Ken Welch. However, that matchup has Ford leading with 28 percent, Foster at 22 percent, Kriseman at 21 percent and Welch at only 13 percent. Sixteen percent of voters are undecided.
The StPetePolls study was through an automated random phone call polling system, with results weighted to account for relative differences in demographics and the demographics of the likely voters in St. Petersburg.
The survey used three demographics: party, race and age. The analytical results have a sample size of 417 and margin of error of 4.8 points.
