Brickfield Leads Long by 1%, Justice Narrowly Ahead of Bostock in new Poll

Republican Neil Brickfield and Democrat Janet Long are locked into a incredibly close race for the Pinellas County Commission, while Democrat Charlie Justice has a narrow lead over Republican incumbent Nancy Bostock in a new survey of several local races conducted by StPetePolls.

Brickfield leads Long 45 to 44 percent according to the poll, while Justice is ahead of Bostock 46 to 44 percent, according to the survey conducted on October 3.

With Justice narrowly ahead of Bostock, despite Bostock being better financed and organized, one could argue that Long is trailing Brickfield because of the fallout from her explosive comments about firefighters taking advantage of 9/11 for their own political game.

Still, both races are well within the margin of error and -- cliche alert -- are still any one's to win.

In the other Pinellas County Commission race on the ballot, Democrat incumbent Ken Welch leads Buck Walz 51 to 33 percent.

Republicans Deborah Clark, Janet Clark and Bob Gualtieri lead their respective races for Supervisor of Elections, School Board and Sheriff, while Rene Flowers is leading current School Board member Glen Gilzean.
