Steve Kornell Will Be Re-Elected As Opponent Withdraws From Race

Incumbent City Councilman Kornell, who was elected in 2009 to fill the rest of Jamie Bennett's term, will now be re-elected by default.

Good news for supporters of City Councilman Steve Kornell: Bill Protz, his lone challenger in the upcoming municipal elections, has officially withdrawn from the race, citing a turn-for-the worse in his wife's health.  

Deputy City Clerk Cathy Davis confirmed Protz' withdrawal.

Because ballots have been yet to be printed, Protz' name will not appear despite having qualified for the election in June.  Incumbent City Councilman Kornell, who was elected in 2009 to fill the rest of Jamie Bennett's term, will now be re-elected by default.
