City of St. Pete says bye-bye to Pam Cichon after inappropriate email

This!

This is karma, ladies and gentlemen.

Pam Cichon, wife of City Council candidate Steve Galvin -- you know, the woman who insulted me for carrying my baby's diaper bag, is leaving her job as an assistant attorney for the City of St. Petersburg.

Following a news account of Cichon’s use of a city email account to conduct campaign business on behalf of her husband, City Council candidate Steve Galvin, an investigation was launched into Cichon’s use of her official city email account to determine whether she has violated state laws and city regulations prohibiting political activities of municipal employees.

The results of that investigation do not make it clear whether Cichon was determined to violate state or city regulations, but one thing is for certain: Cichon's days with the City of St. Petersburg are coming to an end.

Anna Phillips of the Tampa Bay Times reports that "City Attorney John Wolfe said that had decided to retire by the end of the week."

Phillips had earlier reported that  that Cichon, “...sent an email from her work address to Pinellas County Commissioner Janet Long, giving her version of events and claiming that this reporter conspired with Galvin’s opponent, Amy Foster, to ‘dig up dirt’ on her husband.”

Using her government email put Cichon in danger of violating Florida Statute 104.31 (2) which reads, “An employee of the state or any political subdivision may not participate in any political campaign for an elective office while on duty.” Violating the provisions of this section is a first degree misdemeanor.

This blogger made a public information request for all of the emails from Cichon’s account which do not discuss ongoing litigation.

Several more campaign-related emails were found. Subsequently, Cichon decided to retire. Wolfe would not say to Phillips whether Cichon had been asked to leave.

Just think, a month ago, Steve Galvin was a promising candidate for the City Council and Pam Cichon was a well-paid member of the city's legal staff.

Then the two of them decided to mess with my family.

Let this serve as a lesson.
