Apparent Murder-Suicide Investigated

A St. Petersburg couple was found dead, after friends reported they had been having problems, and that the woman had planned to break off the relationship.

On Jan. 21, a friend of Shelley Gold walked into her home at 5153 68th Lane N. to take Gold out to lunch.

When she got inside around 2 p.m. Saturday, the friend found Gold, 52, and 51-year-old Thomas P. Cappadona dead.

Pinellas County detectives said both died of gunshot wounds to the head.

According to a Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office news release, detectives learned the two had been having problems, and Gold had told friends she was going to leave Cappadona.

Detectives said Gold and Cappadona had been a couple together for at least seven years, maybe as long as 10 years.

There is no evidence to suggest that this case is anything other than a murder/suicide, detectives said in the release.

Detectives are continuing the investigation.
