Carjacking Suspects Crash Into St. Pete House

A female juvenile was caught fleeing from the car after it crashed, while two other suspects got away, St. Petersburg Police said.

Suspected armed carjackers crashed a stolen car into a house following a police chase Monday night in St. Petersburg, authorities said.

The victim's vehicle was taken by two suspects at gunpoint around 9:37 p.m. in the area of First Avenue South and 62nd Street South, according to St. Petersburg Police.

Officers spotted the vehicle about an hour later at Ninth Avenue South and 15th Street South and initiated a pursuit.

Police chased the vehicle to 22nd Avenue South and 34th Street South where, just west of the intersection, the driver lost control and crashed into a house.

Three suspects got out of the vehicle and fled on foot. One of them, a female juvenile passenger, was apprehended, while the other two could not be found, police said.

The girl was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries. Her identity was not released by authorities.

There was no visible damage to the house, a police spokesperson said.
