Fallen Officer David Crawford to be Honored

On Tuesday St. Petersburg Police will hold a ceremony on the anniversary of the death of police officer David Crawford. Crawford was shot to death near the intersection of 2nd Avenue South and 8th Street South.

The St. Petersburg Police Department will hold a brief ceremony on the anniversary of the death of St. Petersburg Police Officer David Crawford next week. 

On Tuesday, Feb. 21, the St. Petersburg Department will remember Officer Crawford with a brief ceremony in the breezeway of Police Headquarters, 1300 First Ave. N.

At 10:27 p.m. Tuesday, the Department's Honor Guard will place a memorial wreath next to framed photograph of Officer Crawford, a police news release said.

Mayor Bill Foster, Chief of Police Chuck Harmon and members of City Council will share a few brief remarks for the occasion.

Officer Crawford's widow, Donna, and other family members plan to attend the
ceremony, the news release said.

At 10:37 p.m., a Police Dispatcher will announce a "moment of silence" on the
police radio.

This is the exact time one year ago when Officer Crawford was shot to deat near the intersection of 2nd Avenue South and 8th Street South while he investigated a suspicious person call.

Traffic on 1st Avenue North will be diverted at 13th Street North, beginning at about 10:20 p.m. until the conclusion of the ceremony.
