St. Petersburg motorists planning to take the Sunshine Skyway Bridge tonight, Feb. 24, are being urged to use caution.
The Florida Highway Patrol is warning drivers that heavy fog is encroaching along the bridge and other nearby roadways, causing low visibility.
“Drivers should use extreme caution if fog or other low visibility conditions are met along area roadways,” Sgt. Steve Gaskins of the highway patrol wrote in a media release.
Gaskins said drivers should:
- Reduce their speed
- Be sure to use turn signals
- Increase following distance to other vehicles
- Use low-beam headlights
