Robert Allen Shellly, accused of killing another homeless man last month in Port Richey, was apprehended at the 10th Street boat ramp in Sarasota on Friday.

A homeless man wanted for murder in Pasco County has been captured in Sarasota, authorities said Friday.

Robert Allen Shelly, 50, is accused of killing another homeless man in Port Richey on Jan. 26. He was apprehended by the Sarasota Police without incident at the 10th Street boat ramp in Sarasota at 9:20 a.m. Friday, according to a police spokesperson.

Shelly had been spotted by security cameras at stores in Pinellas Park, Seminole and St. Petersburg in the past two days but eluded authorities and fled to Sarasota County, officials said.

Sarasota Police detectives were notified just before 9 a.m. Wednesday by U.S. Marshals and the Pasco County Sheriff's Office that Shelly was in Sarasota. He had been spotted at a Sunoco Station at 1012 N. Tamiami Trail and at a Publix at 1044 N. Tamiami Trail that morning, according to authorities.

Officers found and arrested him within about 30 minutes.

Shelly was taken to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office Detention Center, where he faces murder charges.
