Man in Critical Condition After Shooting

The shooting occurred at the Mariners Pointe Apartments, which has a long history of crime in the area.

A St. Petersburg man is listed in critical condition after being shot Monday at the Mariners Pointe Apartments, 1175 Pinellas Point Drive S. 

According to St. Petersburg Police, officers arrived on the scene around 12:30 Monday afternoon and found 31-year-old Tieyannie Dewitte Hollis shot in front of building 36.

Police said Hollis was visiting the apartment complex at the time the shooting took place. He was standing outside building 36 when he was approached by a least one suspect and shot in the upper body.

Hollis, police said, was transported to Bayfront Medical Center where he has undergone surgery and is listed in critical condition.

Detectives have not authorized the release of any additional details regarding
the shooting at this time.

The apartment complex is located between 16th and 9th streets South. 

In May 2011, a security officer at the Mariners Pointe Apartments was shot to death. The guard was identified as Mathew Finley Little, 26, of Brandon.

According to police, in that case, Little was found shot once next to the pools and tennis court.
