Man Shot During Argument at St. Pete Gas Station

Police say both men drew handguns during the dispute; one man was shot and the other fled.

Police are investigating an early morning shooting following a dispute at a St. Petersburg gas station, officials said Friday.

Officers were called to Citgo, 3801 6th St. S., around 6:15 a.m. Friday. When they arrived, they found a man standing near the gas pumps suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

He was taken to Bayfront Medical Center for treatment, but his wounds did not appear to be life threatening, police spokesperson Bill Proffitt said.

Witnesses told police the victim and another man got involved in an argument near the gas pumps, with both of them pulling out handguns, Proffitt said. The victim was shot multiple times in the upper body, and the other man fled in a vehicle parked nearby.

It did not appear that the victim fired any shots, Proffitt said.

It appears the two men are acquainted, but the nature of their dispute is still unknown, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
