One man is dead following a Sunday evening
crash in the 800 block of Tyrone Boulevard North.
Update: Tuesday, August 27 2:35 p.m.
St. Petersburg Police identified the driver as Dylan Lee Darby, 21, of St. Petersburg. Officials were able to notify next of kin Tuesday morning.
The crash happened just after 5 p.m. Aug. 25 as a black Honda motorcycle was heading southeast on Tyrone. Witnesses said the driver, who was not wearing a helmet, was “traveling at a very high rate of speed,” according to a St. Petersburg Police Department email to media.
As the man neared the intersection of 9th Avenue North, he lost control on a bend and drove over a raised center median. At the same time, a 2004 Toyota driven by Indira Clarke was heading northbound on Tyrone. She saw the motorcycle and tried to avoid it as it crossed the median, but the motorcycle’s driver was ejected into her path, the release said.
The man, who remains unidentified by police, was taken to Bayfront Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
