Woman Found Dead in Apartment Fire

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, one woman is dead after a Tuesday afternoon apartment fire.

A 65-year-old woman was found dead inside her apartment Tuesday by deputies responding to a fire at the Paradise Shores Condominiums.

Phyllis Wells was pronounced dead in her apartment, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office. The complex is located at 5356 81st St. N., Lealman.

The fire started in the back of the apartment, and several people in the complex tried to help but were forced back by the smoke and blaze, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

The apartment fire does not appear to be suspicious, Pinellas deputies said. 

The investigation is ongoing, according to a news release.
