Hit-and-Run Driver Kills Pedestrian Lying in the Road

St. Petersburg Police said the intoxicated man was lying on the road in the 700 block of 4th Avenue North when a car ran over him.

Police are looking for a dark-colored Nissan that struck and killed a man lying intoxicated in the road on 4th Avenue North.

The incident occurred Wednesday night along the 700 block of 4th Avenue North in St. Petersburg.. 

According to St. Petersburg Police, the suspect's vehicle is a newer model, black or dark-colored, mid-sized Nissan sedan.

The pedestrian, police said, was intoxicated and yelling at witnesses on 4th Avenue North prior to the hit-and-run crash. 

The Nissan sedan was traveling east in the north curb lane of 4th Avenue North at a high rate of speed, police said.

According to police, the pedestrian continued to shout at witnesses as the vehicle maneuvered into the south curb lane of 4th Avenue North.  

As the vehicle changed lanes, the left front of the vehicle hit the pedestrian.

The vehicle then accelerated eastbound on 4th Avenue North and fled the scene, police sad.

The pedestrian, whose next of kin has not been notified, was pronounced dead at the scene.
